This is a study companion for Cambridge IELTS 14, Test 4, Listening. Use it with your own copy of the book and its audio: do the test first, then use this page to see what each section was about, learn the vocabulary, and understand every answer and what you should have listened for.

Golden rule of Listening: the recording plays only once and the answers come in order. Before each section, read the questions and predict the type of word needed. Watch for distractors.

Section 1: Enquiry About Booking a Hotel Room for an Event
Situation: a caller asks Andrew, the hotel's Events Manager, about two rooms (the Adelphi and Carlton) and options such as a master of ceremonies and accommodation. Question type: note completion (Q1–7) plus multiple choice (Q8–10). পরিস্থিতি: একজন কলার ইভেন্টস ম্যানেজার Andrew-এর কাছে দুটি রুম ও অন্যান্য অপশন নিয়ে জানতে চান। নোট পূরণ ও MCQ।

Section 2: Holiday Excursions
Situation: a speaker describes six excursions (dolphin watching, forest walk, cycle trip, local craft tour, observatory trip, horse riding) and gives one key fact about each.
