This is a study companion for Cambridge IELTS 19, Test 2, Listening. Use it with your own copy of the book and its audio: do the test first, then use this page to see what each section was about, learn the vocabulary, and understand every answer and what you should have listened for.

Golden rule: the recording plays once and the answers come in order. Predict the word type (name, number, place) before each part, and beware distractors — the speaker often says a wrong option first.

Part 1: Joining a Guitar Group
Situation: Coleman tells a friend (who wants to join) about his guitar group and a typical lesson. Question types: form completion (Q1–6) and table completion (Q7–10). পরিস্থিতি: Coleman তার গিটার-গ্রুপ ও সাধারণ ক্লাস সম্পর্কে বন্ধুকে বলছেন। ধরন: ফর্ম ও টেবিল পূরণ।

Part 2: Working as a Lifeboat Volunteer
Situation: David describes how and why he became a lifeboat volunteer in Northsea, the training, and what motivates him. Question types: multiple choice (Q11–16) and two "choose TWO letters" tasks (Q17–18, Q19–20). পরিস্থিতি: David লাইফবোট স্বেচ্ছাসেবক হওয়ার গল্প, প্রশিক্ষণ ও অনুপ্রেরণা বলছেন। ধরন: MCQ ও দুটি "দুটি অক্ষর"।

Part 4: Tardigrades
Situation: a student presentation on tardigrades ("water bears") — their appearance, habitat, cryptobiosis, feeding and conservation status. Question type: note completion (Q31–40), ONE WORD ONLY. পরিস্থিতি: tardigrade ("জল-ভালুক") নিয়ে উপস্থাপনা — চেহারা, বাসস্থান, cryptobiosis, খাদ্য ও সংরক্ষণ। নোট পূরণ, শুধু একটি শব্দ।
