How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for the Cambridge IELTS 11, Test 1, Speaking topics. Speaking has no fixed "answers", so this page gives the topic of each part, an original model approach, and useful phrases and vocabulary — all in our own words.

Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script. Speak naturally about your own life.

Part 1: Food and Cooking
Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions (4–5 minutes). The topic is food and cooking — the sorts of food you like eating most, who normally does the cooking in your home, whether you watch cookery programmes on TV, and whether you prefer eating out or eating at home. Part 1-এ পরিচিত সহজ প্রশ্ন। বিষয় খাবার ও রান্না — কোন খাবার পছন্দ, কে রান্না করে, রান্নার অনুষ্ঠান দেখেন কি না, বাইরে নাকি বাড়িতে খেতে পছন্দ।
Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)
Give a direct answer, then a reason and a small detail. Remember the prompts ask "why/why not", so always add a reason. Keep answers to two or three sentences. উত্তর + কারণ + উদাহরণ। "কেন/কেন নয়" যোগ করুন; ২–৩ বাক্য।
Useful openers: "I'm particularly fond of…", "In my home, it's usually my… who cooks", "I do enjoy the odd cookery show because…"

Part 2: Describe a house/apartment that someone you know lives in
You get a cue card, one minute to prepare, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks: whose house/apartment it is, where it is, what it looks like inside, and to explain what you like or dislike about this person's home. কিউ কার্ড, ১ মিনিট প্রস্তুতি, ১–২ মিনিট। এটি কার বাড়ি, কোথায়, ভেতরে কেমন দেখতে, কী পছন্দ/অপছন্দ।

Pick a home you know well — a relative's or friend's. Describe rooms, furniture and atmosphere with plenty of adjectives, and give clear reasons for what you like or dislike. পরিচিত বাড়ি বাছুন; কক্ষ, আসবাব, পরিবেশ বিশেষণসহ; পছন্দ/অপছন্দের কারণ।
Part 3: Different Types of Home; Finding a Place to Live
Part 3 is a two-way discussion linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are different types of home (which kinds are most popular, advantages of a house over an apartment, whether everyone wants a larger home) and finding a place to live (how easy it is, renting vs buying, whether there is a right age for young adults to leave home). Part 3: বিভিন্ন ধরনের বাড়ি; থাকার জায়গা খোঁজা।
How to develop answers (উত্তর কীভাবে বাড়াবেন)
Use P-E-E: Point, Explain, Example. For "renting or buying?", give a point, explain why, then an example. Show both sides and use hedging (it depends on…, generally) for opinion questions. P-E-E: মত, ব্যাখ্যা, উদাহরণ; দুই দিক ও hedging।
