How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for the Cambridge IELTS 14, Test 2, Speaking topics. Speaking has no fixed "answers", so this page gives you the topic of each part, an original model approach, and useful phrases and vocabulary — all in our own words.

Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script. Examiners easily spot memorised answers. Speak naturally about your own life.

Part 1: Social Media
Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions (4–5 minutes). The topic is social media — which sites you use, how much time you spend on them, what information about yourself you have put on social media, and whether there is anything you don't like about it. Part 1-এ পরিচিত সহজ প্রশ্ন। বিষয় সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া — কোন সাইট, কত সময়, কী তথ্য দেন, কী অপছন্দ।
Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)
Give a direct answer, then a reason and a detail. For "is there anything you don't like about social media?", name one thing (privacy, wasted time, fake news), explain why it bothers you, and give a short example. Use frequency adverbs (constantly, hardly ever, a couple of hours a day). উত্তর + কারণ + উদাহরণ। "কী অপছন্দ?" — গোপনীয়তা/সময় নষ্ট/ভুয়া খবর; কারণ ও উদাহরণ দিন।
Useful openers: "I mainly use…", "I probably spend too long on…", "One thing that bothers me is…" — then add because/since.
শুরুর বাক্যের পর because/since দিয়ে কারণ।
Part 2: Describe something you liked very much which you bought for your home
You get a cue card, one minute to prepare, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks: what you bought, when and where you bought it, why you chose that particular thing, and to explain why you liked it so much. কিউ কার্ড, ১ মিনিট প্রস্তুতি, ১–২ মিনিট। কী কিনলেন, কখন-কোথায়, কেন বাছলেন, কেন এত পছন্দ।

Pick something concrete you remember — a piece of furniture, a rug, a lamp, a painting or an appliance. Describe how it looks, why it suited your home, and the feeling it gives you. Use past tenses for buying it and present tenses to describe it now. যা মনে আছে বাছুন — আসবাব, বাতি, ছবি, যন্ত্র। দেখতে কেমন, কেন মানিয়েছিল, কেমন অনুভূতি দেয়।
Part 3: Creating a Nice Home; Different Types of Home
Part 3 is a two-way discussion linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are creating a nice home (why some people buy lots of things for their home, whether it is expensive to make a home look nice, why some people don't care) and different types of home (flats vs houses, whether homes will look different in future, whether preferences change with age). Part 3: সুন্দর ঘর তৈরি; বিভিন্ন ধরনের ঘর।
How to develop answers (উত্তর কীভাবে বাড়াবেন)
Use P-E-E: Point, Explain, Example. For "in what ways is a flat better than a house?", give your point (easier to maintain), explain why (less cleaning, more security), then an example (many families in cities prefer flats for safety). Show both sides and use "it depends" where useful. P-E-E: মত, ব্যাখ্যা, উদাহরণ। দুই দিক দেখান।
