How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for the Cambridge IELTS 15, Test 4, Speaking topics. Speaking has no fixed "answers", so this page gives you the topic of each part, an original model approach (how a Band 7+ candidate could organise ideas), and useful phrases and vocabulary — all in our own words.
Cambridge IELTS 15, Test 4, Speaking-এর টপিকের জন্য স্টাডি কম্প্যানিয়ন। Speaking-এ নির্দিষ্ট "উত্তর" নেই, তাই এখানে প্রতিটি অংশের বিষয়, একটি মৌলিক মডেল পদ্ধতি এবং দরকারি বাক্য ও শব্দভান্ডার দেওয়া হলো।
Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script to recite. Examiners easily spot memorised answers, and they lower your score. Speak naturally about your own life.
মুখস্থ করবেন না। এগুলো অনুশীলনের ধারণা ও ভাষা — মুখস্থ স্ক্রিপ্ট নয়। পরীক্ষক মুখস্থ উত্তর সহজেই ধরেন।
Two golden habits: in Part 1, use Answer + Reason + Example. In Part 3, use Point → Explain → Example (P-E-E). Both stop one-word answers and show development.
দুটি অভ্যাস: Part 1-এ উত্তর + কারণ + উদাহরণ; Part 3-এ Point → Explain → Example।
Part 1: Jewellery
Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions to warm you up (4–5 minutes). The topic is jewellery — how often you wear jewellery, what type you like best, when people like to give jewellery in your country, and whether you have ever given jewellery as a gift. Part 1-এ পরিচিত সহজ প্রশ্ন (৪–৫ মিনিট)। বিষয় গয়না — কত ঘন ঘন পরেন, কোন ধরন পছন্দ, আপনার দেশে কখন গয়না উপহার দেওয়া হয়, কখনো উপহার দিয়েছেন কি না।
Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)
Give a direct answer, then extend with a reason or example. For "when do people like to give jewellery in your country?", mention occasions (weddings, Eid, birthdays), explain why (it is valuable and lasting), and add a detail (gold jewellery is a traditional wedding gift in Bangladesh). This lets you use frequency adverbs and cultural detail naturally. সরাসরি উত্তর, তারপর কারণ/উদাহরণ। "কখন গয়না উপহার দেওয়া হয়?" — বিয়ে, ঈদ, জন্মদিন; কারণ (মূল্যবান ও দীর্ঘস্থায়ী); একটি বিস্তারিত (বাংলাদেশে বিয়েতে সোনার গয়না ঐতিহ্য)।
Useful openers: "I don't wear much jewellery, to be honest…", "The type I like best is…", "In my country, people usually give jewellery when…" — then add a reason with because / since.
শুরুর বাক্যের পর because/since দিয়ে কারণ যোগ করুন।
Part 2: Describe an interesting TV programme you watched about a science topic
You get a cue card, one minute to prepare and make notes, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks you to say what science topic the programme was about, when you saw it, what you learnt from it, and to explain why you found it interesting. কিউ কার্ড, ১ মিনিট প্রস্তুতি, তারপর ১–২ মিনিট কথা। কার্ডে: অনুষ্ঠানটি কোন বিজ্ঞান-বিষয়ে ছিল, কখন দেখেছিলেন, কী শিখেছিলেন, এবং কেন আকর্ষণীয় লেগেছিল।
Planning in 1 minute (নোট কাঠামো)
Topic
the science subject বিষয়
When
where & when you saw it কখন
What you learnt
a key fact or idea যা শিখেছেন
Why interesting
your reaction কেন আকর্ষণীয়
Choose a real programme you remember — a nature documentary (about space, the oceans, animals or the human body), a science show on TV or YouTube. Say what the episode explained, one surprising thing you learnt, and why it gripped you (great visuals, a clear presenter, a topic you already loved). Use past tenses to describe watching it and present tenses for the facts it taught. এমন অনুষ্ঠান বাছুন যা মনে আছে — মহাকাশ/সমুদ্র/প্রাণী/মানবদেহ নিয়ে ডকুমেন্টারি বা YouTube-এর বিজ্ঞান-শো। কী ব্যাখ্যা করল, একটি চমকপ্রদ তথ্য, কেন ভালো লাগল (দৃশ্য, উপস্থাপক)।
Part 3: Science and the Public; Scientific Discoveries
Part 3 is a two-way discussion of more abstract questions linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are science and the public (how interested people in your country are in science, whether children today are better at science than their parents, and how the public can learn more) and scientific discoveries (the most important discoveries of the last 100 years, whether major discoveries are still to be made, and who should pay for research). Part 3 হলো Part 2-এর সাথে সম্পর্কিত বিমূর্ত প্রশ্নের আলোচনা। বিষয়: বিজ্ঞান ও জনগণ; বৈজ্ঞানিক আবিষ্কার।
How to develop answers (উত্তর কীভাবে বাড়াবেন)
Use P-E-E: state a Point, Explain it, then give an Example. For "who should pay for scientific research — governments or private companies?", give your point (a mix of both), explain why (governments fund basic research with no quick profit while companies fund applied work), then an example (vaccine research often needs public money at first). Show both sides and don't be afraid to say "it depends". P-E-E: মত, ব্যাখ্যা, উদাহরণ। দুই দিক দেখান; "নির্ভর করে" বলা যায়।
