How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for the Cambridge IELTS 16, Test 1, Speaking topics. Speaking has no fixed "answers", so this page gives you the topic of each part, an original model approach (how a Band 7+ candidate could organise ideas), and useful phrases and vocabulary — all in our own words.
Cambridge IELTS 16, Test 1, Speaking-এর টপিকের জন্য স্টাডি কম্প্যানিয়ন। Speaking-এ নির্দিষ্ট "উত্তর" নেই, তাই এখানে প্রতিটি অংশের বিষয়, একটি মৌলিক মডেল পদ্ধতি এবং দরকারি বাক্য ও শব্দভান্ডার দেওয়া হলো।
Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script to recite. Examiners easily spot memorised answers, and they lower your score. Speak naturally about your own life.
মুখস্থ করবেন না। এগুলো অনুশীলনের ধারণা ও ভাষা — মুখস্থ স্ক্রিপ্ট নয়। পরীক্ষক মুখস্থ উত্তর সহজেই ধরেন।
Two golden habits: in Part 1, use Answer + Reason + Example. In Part 3, use Point → Explain → Example (P-E-E). Both stop one-word answers and show development.
দুটি অভ্যাস: Part 1-এ উত্তর + কারণ + উদাহরণ; Part 3-এ Point → Explain → Example।
Part 1: People You Study/Work With
Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions to warm you up (4–5 minutes). The topic is people you study or work with — who you spend most time with, what kinds of things you do together, whether you sometimes work better alone, and whether it is important to like the people you study/work with. Part 1-এ পরিচিত সহজ প্রশ্ন (৪–৫ মিনিট)। বিষয় যাদের সাথে পড়েন/কাজ করেন — কার সাথে বেশি সময়, কী করেন একসাথে, একা ভালো হয় কি না, তাদের পছন্দ করা জরুরি কি না।
Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)
Give a direct answer, then extend with a reason or example. For "do you sometimes work better by yourself?", say yes/no, give a reason (fewer distractions / I like sharing ideas) and add a detail (I revise alone but do group projects with classmates). This lets you use present tenses and comparison language naturally. সরাসরি উত্তর, তারপর কারণ/উদাহরণ। "একা ভালো হয়?" — হ্যাঁ/না, কারণ (কম বিঘ্ন / ভাব বিনিময় পছন্দ), একটি বিস্তারিত।
Useful openers: "I spend most of my time with…", "We usually work on… together", "Personally, I find it easier to… when…" — then add a reason with because / since.
শুরুর বাক্যের পর because/since দিয়ে কারণ যোগ করুন।
Part 2: Describe a tourist attraction you enjoyed visiting
You get a cue card, one minute to prepare and make notes, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks: what the tourist attraction is, when and why you visited it, what you did there, and to explain why you enjoyed visiting it. কিউ কার্ড, ১ মিনিট প্রস্তুতি, তারপর ১–২ মিনিট কথা। কার্ডে: আকর্ষণটি কী, কখন ও কেন গিয়েছিলেন, কী করেছিলেন, কেন উপভোগ করেছিলেন।
Planning in 1 minute (নোট কাঠামো)
What
the place & where কী ও কোথায়
When/Why
the visit & reason কখন/কেন
What you did
activities there যা করেছেন
Why enjoyed
feelings & reasons কেন ভালো লাগল
Choose a real place you remember well — the Sundarbans, Cox's Bazar, the Ahsan Manzil, a historic mosque, or a famous site abroad. Describe what you saw, one activity (a boat trip, taking photos, a guided tour) and how it made you feel (amazed, relaxed, proud). Use past tenses throughout, then add descriptive adjectives to lift your score. এমন জায়গা বাছুন যা ভালো মনে আছে — সুন্দরবন, কক্সবাজার, আহসান মঞ্জিল বা বিদেশের স্থান। যা দেখেছেন, একটি কাজ ও অনুভূতি বলুন। past tense ও বর্ণনামূলক বিশেষণ ব্যবহার করুন।
Part 3: Tourist Attractions; International Tourism
Part 3 is a two-way discussion of more abstract questions linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are different kinds of tourist attractions (the most popular ones in your country, how young and older people's tastes differ, whether national museums/galleries should be free) and the importance of international tourism (why tourism matters to a country, the benefits to individuals of visiting abroad, how necessary it is to learn the local language). Part 3 হলো Part 2-এর সাথে সম্পর্কিত বিমূর্ত প্রশ্নের আলোচনা। বিষয়: বিভিন্ন পর্যটন আকর্ষণ; আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যটনের গুরুত্ব।
How to develop answers (উত্তর কীভাবে বাড়াবেন)
Use P-E-E: state a Point, Explain it, then give an Example. For "why is tourism important to a country?", give your point (it boosts the economy), explain why (jobs, foreign currency, infrastructure), then an example from Bangladesh (tourism at Cox's Bazar or the Sundarbans creating local jobs). Show both sides and don't be afraid to say "it depends". P-E-E: মত, ব্যাখ্যা, উদাহরণ। দুই দিক দেখান; "নির্ভর করে" বলা যায়।
