How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for the Cambridge IELTS 16, Test 3, Speaking topics. Speaking has no fixed "answers", so this page gives you the topic of each part, an original model approach, and useful phrases and vocabulary — all in our own words.
Cambridge IELTS 16, Test 3, Speaking-এর টপিকের জন্য স্টাডি কম্প্যানিয়ন। এখানে প্রতিটি অংশের বিষয়, একটি মৌলিক মডেল পদ্ধতি ও দরকারি ভাষা দেওয়া হলো।
Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script to recite. Examiners easily spot memorised answers, and they lower your score.
মুখস্থ করবেন না। এগুলো অনুশীলনের ধারণা — মুখস্থ স্ক্রিপ্ট নয়।
Two golden habits: in Part 1, use Answer + Reason + Example. In Part 3, use Point → Explain → Example (P-E-E).
দুটি অভ্যাস: Part 1-এ উত্তর + কারণ + উদাহরণ; Part 3-এ P-E-E।
Part 1: Summer
Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions to warm you up (4–5 minutes). The topic is summer — whether summer is your favourite time of year, what you do when the weather is very hot, whether you go on holiday every summer, and whether you enjoyed the summer holidays when you were at school. Part 1-এ পরিচিত সহজ প্রশ্ন (৪–৫ মিনিট)। বিষয় গ্রীষ্মকাল — প্রিয় ঋতু কি না, খুব গরমে কী করেন, প্রতি গ্রীষ্মে বেড়াতে যান কি না, স্কুলের গ্রীষ্মের ছুটি ভালো লাগত কি না।
Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)
Give a direct answer, then extend with a reason or example. For "what do you do when the weather's very hot?", give an activity (stay indoors, drink cold sherbet, go for a swim), a reason (it's too humid to go out) and a detail — this is easy in Bangladesh's hot, humid summers. Use present tenses and time phrases. সরাসরি উত্তর, তারপর কারণ/উদাহরণ। "গরমে কী করেন?" — কাজ (ঘরে থাকা, ঠান্ডা শরবত, সাঁতার), কারণ ও একটি বিস্তারিত।
Useful openers: "Summer's not really my favourite because…", "When it gets really hot, I tend to…", "Back when I was at school, I used to…" — then add a reason with because / since.
শুরুর বাক্যের পর because/since দিয়ে কারণ যোগ করুন।
Part 2: Describe a luxury item you would like to own in the future
You get a cue card, one minute to prepare and make notes, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks: what item you would like to own, what it looks like, why you would like to own it, and to explain whether you think you will ever own it. কিউ কার্ড, ১ মিনিট প্রস্তুতি, তারপর ১–২ মিনিট কথা। কার্ডে: কোন বিলাসদ্রব্য চান, দেখতে কেমন, কেন চান, কখনো পাবেন বলে মনে করেন কি না।
Planning in 1 minute (নোট কাঠামো)
What
the item কোন জিনিস
Looks like
appearance & features দেখতে কেমন
Why
why you want it কেন চান
Will you own it?
realistic or not পাবেন কি?
Choose something you genuinely dream of — a sports car, a luxury smartphone, a big house, or a designer watch. Describe its look (colour, brand, features), why it appeals (comfort, status, a lifelong wish), and be honest about whether it's realistic. Use would like to / hope to and future forms (I might be able to… one day). সত্যিকারের স্বপ্নের জিনিস বাছুন — স্পোর্টস কার, বিলাসবহুল ফোন, বড় বাড়ি, ডিজাইনার ঘড়ি। চেহারা, কেন পছন্দ, বাস্তবসম্মত কি না বলুন। would like to / hope to ও future form ব্যবহার করুন।
Part 3: Expensive Items; Rich People
Part 3 is a two-way discussion of more abstract questions linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are expensive items (which ones young people want to buy, how young and older people's choices differ, whether people buy expensive things for friends or themselves) and rich people (how difficult it is to become very rich today, whether money brings happiness, how rich people might use their money to help society). Part 3 হলো Part 2-এর সাথে সম্পর্কিত বিমূর্ত প্রশ্নের আলোচনা। বিষয়: দামি জিনিস; ধনী মানুষ।
How to develop answers (উত্তর কীভাবে বাড়াবেন)
Use P-E-E: state a Point, Explain it, then give an Example. For "does money bring happiness?", give your point, explain why (it removes stress but can't buy relationships), then an example (a rich but lonely person vs a close-knit family). Show both sides and don't be afraid to say "it depends". P-E-E: মত, ব্যাখ্যা, উদাহরণ। দুই দিক দেখান; "নির্ভর করে" বলা যায়।
