How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for the Cambridge IELTS 18, Test 3, Speaking topics. Speaking has no fixed "answers", so this page gives you the topic of each part, an original model approach, and useful phrases and vocabulary — all in our own words.
Cambridge IELTS 18, Test 3, Speaking-এর টপিকের জন্য স্টাডি কম্প্যানিয়ন। এখানে প্রতিটি অংশের বিষয়, একটি মৌলিক মডেল পদ্ধতি এবং দরকারি বাক্য ও শব্দভান্ডার দেওয়া হলো।
Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script to recite. Examiners easily spot memorised answers, and they lower your score. Speak naturally about your own life.
মুখস্থ করবেন না। এগুলো অনুশীলনের ধারণা ও ভাষা — মুখস্থ স্ক্রিপ্ট নয়।
Two golden habits: in Part 1, use Answer + Reason + Example. In Part 3, use Point → Explain → Example (P-E-E).
দুটি অভ্যাস: Part 1-এ উত্তর + কারণ + উদাহরণ; Part 3-এ Point → Explain → Example।
Part 1: Online Shopping
Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions to warm you up (4–5 minutes). Here the topic is online shopping — how often you buy things online and why, the last thing you bought online, whether you see things in shops then buy them online, and whether online shopping is changing your town or city centre. Part 1-এ পরিচিত সহজ প্রশ্ন (৪–৫ মিনিট)। বিষয় অনলাইন কেনাকাটা — কত ঘন কেনেন ও কেন, শেষ কী কিনেছেন, দোকানে দেখে অনলাইনে কেনেন কি না, শহরকেন্দ্রে প্রভাব।
Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)
Give a direct answer, then extend with a reason or example. For "how often do you shop online?", give a frequency (e.g. "a couple of times a month"), a reason (convenience, better prices), and a detail (a recent order like clothes or a phone accessory from Daraz). This shows frequency language and shopping vocabulary. সরাসরি উত্তর, তারপর কারণ/উদাহরণ। "কত ঘন কেনেন?" — কতবার, কারণ (সুবিধা, দাম), একটি সাম্প্রতিক অর্ডার (Daraz থেকে জামা/মোবাইল অ্যাকসেসরি)।
Useful openers: "I shop online fairly often, mainly because…", "The last thing I bought was…", "Yes, quite a lot of shops have…" — then a reason with because / since.
শুরুর বাক্যের পর because/since দিয়ে কারণ যোগ করুন।
Part 2: Describe a time when you enjoyed visiting a member of your family in their home
You get a cue card, one minute to prepare and make notes, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks: who you visited and where they lived, why you made the visit, what happened during it, and to explain what you enjoyed about it. কিউ কার্ড, ১ মিনিট প্রস্তুতি, তারপর ১–২ মিনিট কথা। কার্ডে: কাকে ও কোথায় দেখতে গেলেন, কেন, কী ঘটল, কী উপভোগ করলেন।

Good choices: visiting your grandparents' village home during Eid, an aunt/uncle in another city, or cousins in your desher bari. Use past tenses throughout and make the last point (what you enjoyed) the richest — the food, the company, the memories. ভালো উদাহরণ: ঈদে দাদা-দাদির গ্রামের বাড়ি, অন্য শহরে খালা/মামা, দেশের বাড়িতে চাচাতো ভাইবোন। পুরোটা অতীত কালে; শেষ পয়েন্ট সবচেয়ে বড়।
Part 3: Family Occasions; Everyday Life in Families
Part 3 is a two-way discussion of more abstract questions linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are family occasions (when families celebrate together, how often the generations meet, why some people dislike family gatherings) and everyday family life (parents helping with schoolwork, eating together, sharing household tasks). Part 3 হলো Part 2-এর সাথে সম্পর্কিত বিমূর্ত প্রশ্নের আলোচনা। বিষয়: পারিবারিক অনুষ্ঠান; দৈনন্দিন পারিবারিক জীবন।
How to develop answers (উত্তর কীভাবে বাড়াবেন)
Use P-E-E: state a Point, Explain it, then give an Example. For "should everyone in a family share household tasks?", give your point, explain why (fairness, teaching responsibility), then an example from your own home. Compare generations or cultures where you can. P-E-E ব্যবহার করুন: মত, ব্যাখ্যা, উদাহরণ। প্রজন্ম বা সংস্কৃতির তুলনা করুন।
