How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for Cambridge IELTS 19, Test 1, Writing. Writing has no single correct answer, so this page gives task analysis, a structure and planning method, useful language and band tips — all in our own words. It does not reprint the book's tasks or sample essays.
Cambridge IELTS 19, Test 1, Writing-এর স্টাডি কম্প্যানিয়ন। Writing-এ একটিমাত্র সঠিক উত্তর নেই, তাই এখানে টাস্ক বিশ্লেষণ, কাঠামো ও পরিকল্পনা, দরকারি ভাষা ও টিপস — আমাদের নিজের ভাষায়। বইয়ের টাস্ক বা নমুনা রচনা হুবহু ছাপা হয়নি।
Timing: ~20 min on Task 1 (150+ words), ~40 min on Task 2 (250+ words). Task 2 is worth twice as much — never let Task 1 eat its time.
সময়: Task 1-এ ~২০ মিনিট (১৫০+ শব্দ), Task 2-এ ~৪০ মিনিট (২৫০+ শব্দ)। Task 2-এর ওজন দ্বিগুণ।
Task 1: Participants by Activity (Melbourne social centre)
What the task shows: a line graph of the number of participants in five activities — film club, martial arts, amateur dramatics, table tennis and musical performances — at a Melbourne social centre from 2000 to 2020. Your job: select and report the main features and make comparisons. টাস্কে যা আছে: ২০০০–২০২০ সময়কালে একটি সমাজকেন্দ্রে পাঁচটি কার্যক্রমে অংশগ্রহণকারীর সংখ্যার লাইন গ্রাফ। কাজ: মূল বৈশিষ্ট্য বেছে বর্ণনা ও তুলনা।

The key insight for your overview: film club stayed the most popular activity throughout, while table tennis rose the most dramatically (overtaking others by 2020) and amateur dramatics declined steadily. Stating these big movements — without numbers — is what secures Band 6+ in Task Achievement.
ওভারভিউয়ের মূল কথা: film club সবসময় সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয় ছিল, table tennis সবচেয়ে বেশি বেড়েছে, আর amateur dramatics ক্রমাগত কমেছে। সংখ্যা ছাড়া এই বড় ছবি বলাই Band 6+ নিশ্চিত করে।
Common mistakes: (1) no overview; (2) describing every line year-by-year with no grouping; (3) using present tense — the data ends in 2020, so use past tenses. Group activities that behave similarly (the two risers together, etc.).
সাধারণ ভুল: ওভারভিউ না থাকা; প্রতিটি লাইন আলাদা বছরওয়ারি লেখা; বর্তমান কাল ব্যবহার। একই রকম আচরণের কার্যক্রম গুচ্ছবদ্ধ করুন।
Task 2: Competition vs Cooperation (Discuss both views)
The prompt (in short): some people think competition at work, school and daily life is good; others believe we should cooperate more rather than compete. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. This is a discussion essay: you must cover both sides fairly and make your own position clear. প্রশ্ন (সংক্ষেপে): কেউ প্রতিযোগিতা ভালো মনে করে; কেউ প্রতিযোগিতার বদলে সহযোগিতা চায়। দুই মত আলোচনা করে নিজের মত দিন। এটি আলোচনা রচনা: দুই দিক ন্যায্যভাবে দেখাতে ও নিজের অবস্থান স্পষ্ট করতে হবে।

For cooperation
- Teamwork achieves what individuals cannot. একা যা সম্ভব নয়, দল তা পারে।
- Reduces stress and builds relationships. চাপ কমায়, সম্পর্ক গড়ে।
- Too much rivalry can harm well-being. অতিরিক্ত প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা ক্ষতিকর।
A balanced conclusion often scores best — e.g. "both are valuable; healthy competition motivates, but it works best within a cooperative environment." Support each idea with a specific example (school, workplace, sport). ভারসাম্যপূর্ণ উপসংহার প্রায়ই ভালো স্কোর করে; প্রতিটি ধারণা নির্দিষ্ট উদাহরণ দিয়ে সমর্থন করুন।
