A study companion for Cambridge IELTS 19, Test 4, Writing. Writing has no single correct answer, so this page gives task analysis, a structure and planning method, useful language and band tips — all in our own words. It does not reprint the book's tasks or sample essays.
Cambridge IELTS 19, Test 4, Writing-এর স্টাডি কম্প্যানিয়ন। এখানে টাস্ক বিশ্লেষণ, কাঠামো, দরকারি ভাষা ও টিপস।
Timing: ~20 min on Task 1 (150+ words), ~40 min on Task 2 (250+ words). Task 2 is worth twice as much.

Task 1: Location & Types of Dance Classes (Pie + Bar Charts)
What the task shows: a pie chart of where young people attend dance classes (private studios 48%, school halls 24%, community halls 18%, college studios 10%) and a bar chart of types of dance (ballet, tap, modern) split by age group (under 11 vs 11–16). Your job: select and report the main features and make comparisons across both charts. টাস্কে যা আছে: নাচের ক্লাসের স্থান-এর pie chart ও ধরন-এর bar chart (বয়স অনুযায়ী)। কাজ: দুই চার্টের মূল বৈশিষ্ট্য বেছে বর্ণনা ও তুলনা।

Key insight for the overview: private studios are by far the most popular location, and the age split differs by dance type — ballet is dominated by under-11s while modern dance is more popular with 11–16s. State these two big patterns without numbers. When there are two charts, your overview should mention the main point of each. ওভারভিউয়ের মূল কথা: private studio সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয়; বয়সভেদে ধরন ভিন্ন — ব্যালেতে ছোটরা, modern-এ বড়রা। দুই চার্টের মূল কথাই বলুন।
Common mistakes: (1) describing only one chart; (2) no overview; (3) listing every figure. Percentages (pie) and student numbers (bar) are different units — keep them separate and compare within each chart. সাধারণ ভুল: একটি চার্ট বাদ; ওভারভিউ না থাকা; সব সংখ্যা তালিকা। শতকরা ও সংখ্যা আলাদা রাখুন।
Task 2: Buying food produced all over the world (Positive or negative?)
The prompt (in short): in many countries, consumers can buy food produced all over the world in supermarkets — is this a positive or negative development? This is a positive/negative (opinion) essay: decide which side you favour and argue it, while acknowledging the other. প্রশ্ন (সংক্ষেপে): সুপারমার্কেটে বিশ্বজুড়ে উৎপন্ন খাবার কেনা যায় — ইতিবাচক না নেতিবাচক? মতামত রচনা: একটি পক্ষ নিয়ে যুক্তি দিন, অন্যটিও স্বীকার করুন।

Positive
- Greater variety and year-round choice. বেশি বৈচিত্র্য ও সারা বছর পছন্দ।
- Access to nutritious food not grown locally. স্থানীয়ভাবে না জন্মানো পুষ্টিকর খাবার।
- Supports trade and connects cultures. বাণিজ্য ও সংস্কৃতির সংযোগ।
Negative
- Transport increases carbon emissions. পরিবহনে কার্বন নিঃসরণ।
- Harms local farmers and food traditions. স্থানীয় কৃষক ও খাদ্য-ঐতিহ্যের ক্ষতি।
- Food may be less fresh after long journeys. দীর্ঘ পথে কম টাটকা।
Take a clear stance in the introduction and keep it consistent. A measured view ("mostly positive, but with environmental costs that need managing") often scores well. Support each idea with a concrete example. ভূমিকায় স্পষ্ট অবস্থান নিন; পরিমিত মত প্রায়ই ভালো স্কোর করে; উদাহরণ দিন।
