Cambridge IELTS 3, Test 4, Speaking-

Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script. Speak naturally about your own life.

Two golden habits: Part 1 — Answer + Reason + Example; Part 3 — Point → Explain → Example.

Part 1: Daily Routine

Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions (4–5 minutes). The topic is your daily routine — what you would like to change about it, whether all your days are the same, your typical weekday and weekend, and the balance of work/study and free time in a normal day.

Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)

Give a direct answer, then a reason and a small detail. Keep answers to two or three sentences and add an example.

Useful openers: "On a typical weekday I…", "One thing I'd change is…", "I try to balance study and free time by…"

Part 2: Describe Something You Own That Is Important to You

You get a cue card, one minute to prepare, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks you to say where you got it from, how long you have had it, what you use it for, and to explain why it is so important to you.

Choose a real object — a phone, a gift, a piece of jewellery or a book — and describe where you got it, how long you have had it, what you use it for, and why it means so much (memories, usefulness, sentiment). Use present perfect ("I've had it for…") and present tenses.

Part 3: Values, Consumer Society & the Market

Part 3 is a two-way discussion linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are how values can change (what possessions show status in your country and whether it was different for your grandparents), the consumer society (why modern society is often called "materialistic" and whether consumerism is positive or negative), and the consumer market (the role of advertising and how the Internet may affect buying patterns).

How to develop answers

Use P-E-E: Point, Explain, Example. For "is consumerism positive or negative?", give a point, explain why, then an example. Show both sides and hedge (it depends…, generally) for opinion questions.
