How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for the Cambridge IELTS 4, Test 1, Speaking topics. Speaking has no fixed "answers", so this page gives the topic of each part, an original model approach, and useful phrases and vocabulary — all in our own words.

Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script. Speak naturally about your own life.

Part 1: Friends
Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions (4–5 minutes). The topic is friends — whether your friends are mostly your own age or different ages, when you usually see them (during the week or at weekends), what you last did together, and in what ways your friends are important to you. Part 1-এ পরিচিত সহজ প্রশ্ন। বিষয় বন্ধু — বন্ধুরা কি একই বয়সের নাকি ভিন্ন, কখন দেখা হয়, সর্বশেষ একসাথে কী করেছেন, বন্ধুরা কেন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।
Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)
Give a direct answer, then a reason and a small detail. Keep answers to two or three sentences and add an example from your own life. উত্তর + কারণ + উদাহরণ; ২–৩ বাক্য; নিজের জীবন থেকে উদাহরণ।
Useful openers: "Most of my friends are…", "We usually meet up at…", "The last time we got together we…"

Part 2: Describe an Interesting Historic Place
You get a cue card, one minute to prepare, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks you to say what the place is, where it is located, what you can see there now, and to explain why this place is interesting. কিউ কার্ড, ১ মিনিট প্রস্তুতি, ১–২ মিনিট। বলুন এটি কী স্থান, কোথায়, এখন কী দেখা যায়, এবং কেন এটি আকর্ষণীয়।

Pick a real place you know — an old fort, mosque, temple, palace or ruin — and describe what it is, where it stands, what visitors see today, and the story or feeling that makes it special. Use past tenses for its history and present for what it is like now. পরিচিত একটি স্থান বাছুন—দুর্গ, মসজিদ, মন্দির, প্রাসাদ বা ধ্বংসাবশেষ; পরিচয়, অবস্থান, এখন কী দেখা যায় ও কেন বিশেষ তা বলুন।
Part 3: Looking after Historic Places & Teaching History
Part 3 is a two-way discussion linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are looking after historic places (how people feel about protecting old buildings, whether an area benefits from a historic site, and what may happen to such places in future) and the teaching of history at school (how you were taught history, other ways to learn about the past, and whether history will remain a school subject). Part 3: ঐতিহাসিক স্থান রক্ষা ও স্কুলে ইতিহাস শেখানো।
How to develop answers (উত্তর কীভাবে বাড়াবেন)
Use P-E-E: Point, Explain, Example. For "does an area benefit from a historic place?", give a point (tourism/jobs), explain why, then an example. Show both sides and hedge (it depends…, generally) for opinion questions. P-E-E: মত, ব্যাখ্যা, উদাহরণ; দুই দিক ও hedging।
