How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for the Cambridge IELTS 5, Test 2, Speaking topics. Speaking has no fixed "answers", so this page gives the topic of each part, an original model approach, and useful phrases and vocabulary — all in our own words.

Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script. Speak naturally about your own life.

Part 1: Colour
Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions (4–5 minutes). The topic is colour — your favourite colour and why, whether you like the same colours now as when you were younger, what colours can tell you about a person, and whether any colours have a special meaning in your culture. Part 1-এ পরিচিত সহজ প্রশ্ন। বিষয় রঙ — প্রিয় রঙ ও কেন, ছোটবেলার মতো একই রঙ পছন্দ কি না, রঙ থেকে মানুষ সম্পর্কে কী জানা যায়, আপনার সংস্কৃতিতে রঙের বিশেষ অর্থ আছে কি না।
Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)
Give a direct answer, then a reason and a small detail. Several prompts ask "why", so always add a reason. Keep answers to two or three sentences. উত্তর + কারণ + উদাহরণ; ২–৩ বাক্য।
Useful openers: "My favourite colour is… because…", "In my culture, red/white often means…", "I used to prefer… but now I like…"

Part 2: Describe a Song or a Piece of Music You Like
You get a cue card, one minute to prepare, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks: what the song or music is, what kind of song or music it is, where you first heard it, and to explain why you like it. কিউ কার্ড, ১ মিনিট প্রস্তুতি, ১–২ মিনিট। বলুন গান/সংগীতটি কী, কোন ধরনের, প্রথম কোথায় শুনেছিলেন, এবং কেন পছন্দ করেন।

Pick a real song — a favourite pop, folk or film song — and describe its style, when and where you first heard it, and why it means something to you (the tune, the words, a memory). Use past and present tenses. সত্যিকার গান বাছুন; ধরন, প্রথম শোনা ও কেন প্রিয় (সুর, কথা, স্মৃতি)। অতীত ও বর্তমান কাল।
Part 3: Music & Young People / Music & Society
Part 3 is a two-way discussion linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are music and young people (what music is popular with the young, what influences their taste, and how technology has changed it) and music and society (traditional music in your culture, why musical traditions matter, and why countries have national anthems). Part 3: সংগীত ও তরুণ প্রজন্ম, সংগীত ও সমাজ।
How to develop answers (উত্তর কীভাবে বাড়াবেন)
Use P-E-E: Point, Explain, Example. For "how has technology changed music?", give a point, explain why, then an example. Show both sides and hedge (it depends…, generally) for opinion questions. P-E-E: মত, ব্যাখ্যা, উদাহরণ; দুই দিক ও hedging।
