How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for the Cambridge IELTS 5, Test 3, Speaking topics. Speaking has no fixed "answers", so this page gives the topic of each part, an original model approach, and useful phrases and vocabulary — all in our own words.

Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script. Speak naturally about your own life.

Part 1: Entertainment
Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions (4–5 minutes). The topic is entertainment — whether you prefer relaxing at home or going out in the evening, what you like to do on a night out, how popular this is in your country, and whether there is any kind of entertainment you dislike. Part 1-এ পরিচিত সহজ প্রশ্ন। বিষয় বিনোদন — সন্ধ্যায় বাসায় বিশ্রাম নাকি বাইরে যাওয়া পছন্দ, বাইরে গেলে কী করেন, তা দেশে কতটা জনপ্রিয়, কোনো বিনোদন অপছন্দ কি না।
Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)
Give a direct answer, then a reason and a small detail. Several prompts ask "why", so always add a reason. Keep answers to two or three sentences. উত্তর + কারণ + উদাহরণ; ২–৩ বাক্য।
Useful openers: "I usually prefer… because…", "On a night out I like to…", "One thing I'm not keen on is…"

Part 2: Describe One of Your Friends
You get a cue card, one minute to prepare, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks: how you met, how long you have known each other, how you spend time together, and to explain why you like this person. কিউ কার্ড, ১ মিনিট প্রস্তুতি, ১–২ মিনিট। বলুন কীভাবে পরিচয়, কতদিন চেনেন, একসঙ্গে কীভাবে সময় কাটান, এবং কেন তাকে পছন্দ করেন।

Pick a real friend and describe where and how you met, how long you have been friends, what you do together, and the qualities you value (loyalty, humour, support). Use past and present tenses. সত্যিকার বন্ধু বাছুন; কোথায়-কীভাবে পরিচয়, কতদিন, কী করেন, ও যে গুণ পছন্দ (বিশ্বস্ততা, রসবোধ)। অতীত ও বর্তমান কাল।
Part 3: Qualities of Friends & Other Relationships
Part 3 is a two-way discussion linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are qualities of friends (the most important qualities, whether family or friends matter more, and what causes friendships to break up) and other relationships (which relationships beyond friends and family matter, how relations with neighbours have changed, and how important it is to spend time alone). Part 3: বন্ধুর গুণ ও অন্যান্য সম্পর্ক।
How to develop answers (উত্তর কীভাবে বাড়াবেন)
Use P-E-E: Point, Explain, Example. For "what makes a good friend?", give a point, explain why, then an example. Show both sides and hedge (it depends…, generally) for opinion questions. P-E-E: মত, ব্যাখ্যা, উদাহরণ; দুই দিক ও hedging।
