How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for the Cambridge IELTS 7, Test 3, Speaking topics. Speaking has no fixed "answers", so this page gives the topic of each part, an original model approach, and useful phrases and vocabulary — all in our own words.

Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script. Speak naturally about your own life.

Part 1: Cold Weather
Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions (4–5 minutes). The topic is cold weather — whether you have ever been in very cold weather, how often it is cold where you live, whether some parts of your country are colder than others, and whether you would prefer a hot place or a cold one. Part 1-এ পরিচিত সহজ প্রশ্ন। বিষয় ঠান্ডা আবহাওয়া — কখনো খুব ঠান্ডায় থেকেছেন কি, আপনার এলাকায় কত ঘন ঘন ঠান্ডা, দেশের কিছু অংশ কি বেশি ঠান্ডা, গরম না ঠান্ডা জায়গা পছন্দ।
Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)
Give a direct answer, then a reason and a small detail. The prompts ask "why/when", so always add a reason. Keep answers to two or three sentences. উত্তর + কারণ + উদাহরণ। "কেন/কখন" যোগ করুন; ২–৩ বাক্য।
Useful openers: "It rarely gets truly cold here, but…", "The north of my country is much colder because…", "I'd prefer a warm climate since…"

Part 2: Describe a Competition You Took Part In
You get a cue card, one minute to prepare, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks: what kind of competition it was and how you found out about it, what you had to do, what the prizes were, and to explain why you chose to take part. (It can be a TV, college/work or sports competition.) কিউ কার্ড, ১ মিনিট প্রস্তুতি, ১–২ মিনিট। এটি কী ধরনের প্রতিযোগিতা ও কীভাবে জানলেন, কী করতে হয়েছিল, পুরস্কার কী ছিল, এবং কেন অংশ নিলেন। (TV, কলেজ/কাজ বা খেলা।)

Pick a real competition — a quiz, sports event, essay or debate — and describe what you had to do, the prizes, and your motivation (fun, a challenge, to win). Use past tenses. সত্যিকার প্রতিযোগিতা বাছুন (কুইজ, খেলা, রচনা, বিতর্ক); কী করতে হলো, পুরস্কার ও কেন অংশ নিলেন। অতীত কাল।
Part 3: Competitions in School & Sport
Part 3 is a two-way discussion linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are competitions in school (why teachers use them, whether prizes for good pupils are a good idea, whether schools have become more competitive) and sporting competitions (advantages and disadvantages of intensive training for young athletes, whether competition improves performance, and whether one can become too competitive). Part 3: স্কুলে প্রতিযোগিতা ও খেলাধুলার প্রতিযোগিতা।
How to develop answers (উত্তর কীভাবে বাড়াবেন)
Use P-E-E: Point, Explain, Example. For "does competition improve performance?", give a point, explain why, then an example. Show both sides and use hedging (it depends on…, generally) for opinion questions. P-E-E: মত, ব্যাখ্যা, উদাহরণ; দুই দিক ও hedging।
