How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for the Cambridge IELTS 8, Test 4, Speaking topics. Speaking has no fixed "answers", so this page gives the topic of each part, an original model approach, and useful phrases and vocabulary — all in our own words.

Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script. Speak naturally about your own life.

Part 1: Television
Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions (4–5 minutes). The topic is television — how often you watch TV, which channel you usually watch, whether you enjoy the advertisements, and whether you think most programmes are good. Part 1-এ পরিচিত সহজ প্রশ্ন। বিষয় টেলিভিশন — কত ঘন ঘন দেখেন, কোন চ্যানেল, বিজ্ঞাপন ভালো লাগে কি না, বেশিরভাগ অনুষ্ঠান ভালো কি না।
Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)
Give a direct answer, then a reason and a small detail. The prompts ask "why/why not", so always add a reason. Keep answers to two or three sentences. উত্তর + কারণ + উদাহরণ। "কেন/কেন নয়" যোগ করুন; ২–৩ বাক্য।
Useful openers: "I watch TV mainly in the evenings to…", "My favourite channel is… because…", "Honestly, I find most adverts…"

Part 2: Describe a friend of your family you remember from your childhood
You get a cue card, one minute to prepare, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks: who the person was, how your family knew this person, how often this person visited your family, and to explain why you remember this person. কিউ কার্ড, ১ মিনিট প্রস্তুতি, ১–২ মিনিট। এটি কে ছিলেন, আপনার পরিবার কীভাবে চিনত, কত ঘন ঘন আসতেন, কেন মনে আছে।

Choose a warm memory — a family friend, a neighbour or a relative's friend. Describe their character and habits, and explain what made them memorable (kindness, gifts, stories, a special role in your childhood). উষ্ণ একটি স্মৃতি বাছুন; স্বভাব ও অভ্যাস এবং স্মরণীয় হওয়ার কারণ।
Part 3: Friendship; Influence of Friends
Part 3 is a two-way discussion linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are friendship (what makes someone a good friend to a whole family, whether we meet different kinds of friend at different life stages, how easy it is to make friends across age groups) and influence of friends (whether online-only friendship is real, how friends influence us, and the value of friends from different cultures). Part 3: বন্ধুত্ব; বন্ধুদের প্রভাব।
How to develop answers (উত্তর কীভাবে বাড়াবেন)
Use P-E-E: Point, Explain, Example. For "can online-only friendship be real?", give a point, explain why, then an example. Show both sides and use hedging (it depends on…, generally) for opinion questions. P-E-E: মত, ব্যাখ্যা, উদাহরণ; দুই দিক ও hedging।
