How to Use This Companion (এই গাইড কীভাবে ব্যবহার করবেন)
A study companion for the Cambridge IELTS 9, Test 2, Speaking topics. Speaking has no fixed "answers", so this page gives the topic of each part, an original model approach, and useful phrases and vocabulary — all in our own words.

Don't memorise. These are ideas and language to practise with — not a script. Speak naturally about your own life.

Part 1: Giving Gifts
Part 1 asks simple, familiar questions (4–5 minutes). The topic is giving gifts — when people give gifts in your country, whether you take a gift when visiting someone's home, when you last received a gift, and whether you enjoy looking for gifts for people. Part 1-এ পরিচিত সহজ প্রশ্ন। বিষয় উপহার দেওয়া — কখন উপহার দেয়, বেড়াতে গেলে উপহার নেন কি না, শেষ কবে পেয়েছেন, উপহার খুঁজতে ভালো লাগে কি না।
Model approach (মডেল পদ্ধতি)
Give a direct answer, then a reason and a small detail. The prompts ask "why/why not", so always add a reason. Keep answers to two or three sentences. উত্তর + কারণ + উদাহরণ। "কেন/কেন নয়" যোগ করুন; ২–৩ বাক্য।
Useful openers: "We usually give gifts at festivals like…", "Yes, it's polite to take something when…", "The last gift I got was…"

Part 2: Describe something you did that was new or exciting
You get a cue card, one minute to prepare, then speak for 1–2 minutes. The card asks: what you did, where and when you did this, who you shared the activity with, and to explain why this activity was new or exciting for you. কিউ কার্ড, ১ মিনিট প্রস্তুতি, ১–২ মিনিট। এটি কী করলেন, কোথায় ও কখন, কার সঙ্গে, কেন নতুন/রোমাঞ্চকর।

Pick a memorable "first" — a first trip, a new sport, a performance. Describe the experience vividly and explain the feelings that made it new or exciting. স্মরণীয় একটি "প্রথম" বাছুন; প্রাণবন্ত বর্ণনা ও অনুভূতির কারণ।
Part 3: Doing New Things; Learning New Things
Part 3 is a two-way discussion linked to Part 2 (4–5 minutes). The themes are doing new things (why people like new experiences, the problems of trying something for the first time, whether it is best to do new things alone or with others) and learning new things (what young children learn, how children and adults learn differently, and whether learning new things matters more now than before). Part 3: নতুন কিছু করা; নতুন কিছু শেখা।
How to develop answers (উত্তর কীভাবে বাড়াবেন)
Use P-E-E: Point, Explain, Example. For "how do children and adults learn differently?", give a point, explain why, then an example. Show both sides and use hedging (it depends on…, generally) for opinion questions. P-E-E: মত, ব্যাখ্যা, উদাহরণ; দুই দিক ও hedging।
