Band 9 185 words
The table shows the average number of minutes per day that people in three age groups — 15–24, 25–44 and those aged 45 and over — spent on five leisure activities in a particular country.
Overall, it is clear that younger people devoted most of their leisure time to social media and gaming, whereas older people preferred watching television and reading. The figures changed markedly from one age group to the next.
The youngest group spent by far the most time on social media, at 150 minutes a day, and also the most of any group on gaming (80 minutes) and exercise (45 minutes). In contrast, they read for only 20 minutes and watched the least television, at 90 minutes.
The oldest group showed the opposite pattern. They watched television the longest, at 180 minutes daily, and read the most, at 60 minutes, but spent the least time on social media (40 minutes) and gaming (just 15 minutes). The middle-aged group generally fell between the two, though their figures were usually closer to those of the oldest group.
Band 7 156 words
The table shows the average time in minutes that people in three age groups (15–24, 25–44 and 45 and over) spent on five leisure activities every day in a country.
Overall, young people spent the most time on social media and gaming, while older people spent more time watching TV and reading.
The 15–24 group spent the most time on social media, which was 150 minutes per day. They also spent 80 minutes on gaming and 45 minutes on exercise, which was more than the other groups. However, they only read for 20 minutes and watched TV for 90 minutes.
The 45 and over group was very different. They watched TV for 180 minutes, which was the highest, and they read for 60 minutes. But they spent only 40 minutes on social media and 15 minutes on gaming. The 25–44 group was usually in the middle of the other two.
Band 5–6 133 words
The table is about the average minutes that three age group spend on five leisure activity in one day. The age group are 15-24, 25-44 and 45+.
The young people 15-24 spend most time on social media, it is 150 minutes. They also do gaming 80 minutes and exercise 45 minutes. But they read only 20 minutes and watch TV 90 minutes.

Band 9 285 words
Traffic congestion has become one of the most frustrating features of modern city life, bringing daily gridlock to roads across the world. This essay will examine the main causes of the problem before suggesting some practical solutions.
There are two principal causes of urban congestion. The first, and most obvious, is the sheer number of private cars. As incomes rise, more and more families are able to afford their own vehicle, and in many cities the road network simply cannot cope with the resulting volume of traffic. A second important cause is inadequate public transport. Where buses and trains are unreliable, uncomfortable or infrequent, people naturally prefer to drive, which adds still more cars to already crowded streets.
Fortunately, several measures could ease the situation. The most effective solution is to invest heavily in public transport, making it fast, cheap and reliable enough to tempt drivers out of their cars. A modern underground railway, for instance, can carry thousands of passengers who would otherwise travel by road. In addition, governments can discourage car use directly through congestion charges — small fees for driving into the city centre — as London has done successfully. The money raised can then be reinvested in buses and cycle lanes.
In conclusion, traffic congestion is caused mainly by rising car ownership and weak public transport. However, by improving public transport and charging drivers to enter busy areas, city authorities can significantly reduce the problem and make urban travel far more pleasant.
Band 7 253 words
Traffic congestion is a big problem in many cities today, and it is getting worse. In this essay, I will explain the main causes of this problem and suggest some solutions.
There are two main causes of traffic congestion. The first cause is the large number of private cars. Nowadays, many people can afford a car, so there are too many cars on the roads, and the roads are not big enough for all of them. The second cause is poor public transport. When buses and trains are slow, crowded or not on time, people do not want to use them, so they use their cars instead. This makes the traffic even worse.
However, there are some solutions to this problem. The best solution is to improve public transport. If the government makes buses and trains fast, cheap and reliable, more people will use them and leave their cars at home. For example, a good metro system can carry a lot of people quickly. Another solution is to make drivers pay to drive in the city centre, like a congestion charge. This makes people think twice before using their car, and the money can be used to improve public transport.
In conclusion, traffic congestion is mainly caused by too many cars and bad public transport. But if we improve public transport and use congestion charges, we can reduce the traffic and make cities better places to live.
Band 5–6 219 words
Traffic jam is a big problem in many city and it is becoming more serious. In this essay i will write the reason of this problem and also some solution.
There are two main reason of traffic jam. First reason is too many private car. Now a days many people can buy the car so there is too many car on the road and the road is not enough big. Second reason is the public transport is not good. When the bus and train is slow and crowded, people don't want to use it, so they use their own car and the traffic become more.
But there is some solution also. The best solution is to make the public transport good. If the government make the bus and train fast and cheap, more people will use it and leave the car in home. For example a good metro can carry many people fast. Another solution is to take money from the driver for come in the city center, like congestion charge. Then people will think before using the car.
In conclusion, the traffic jam is happen because of too many car and bad public transport. But if we make the public transport good and take charge, we can reduce the problem.
