Introduction: The PTE Speaking & Writing Section
ভূমিকা: PTE Speaking & Writing অংশটি কী?
This is always the first section of PTE Academic. It is fully computer-delivered: you speak into a microphone and type on a keyboard, and the recordings are scored by Pearson's automated scoring engine (with human oversight). It combines speaking and writing because several tasks are "integrated" — you listen or read first, then respond, so one task can score more than one skill at once.

Personal Introduction (unscored): before Item 1, you get 25 seconds to read a short prompt and 30 seconds to record yourself answering it (e.g. "introduce yourself"). It is not scored — it is only sent to the institutions you send your score to, so speak naturally and use the practice.
ব্যক্তিগত পরিচিতি (অ-স্কোরড): প্রথম আইটেমের আগে ২৫ সেকেন্ড একটি প্রম্পট পড়ার এবং ৩০ সেকেন্ড উত্তর রেকর্ড করার সময় পাবেন। এটি স্কোর করা হয় না — শুধু আপনি যেসব প্রতিষ্ঠানে স্কোর পাঠান তাদের কাছে যায়, তাই স্বাভাবিকভাবে কথা বলুন এবং এটিকে ওয়ার্ম-আপ হিসেবে ব্যবহার করুন।

Test Format & Structure (পরীক্ষার ফরম্যাট)
The section moves through the 9 item types roughly in this order. Speaking items come first and are timed strictly per item (a countdown begins the moment the mic opens); the two writing items (Summarize Written Text, Write Essay) come later with a shared time budget you manage yourself.

The 9 Question Types (৯ ধরনের প্রশ্ন)
Each item is designed to test a specific combination of skills. Knowing exactly what the microphone (or the scoring engine) is listening for changes how you prepare.

Read Aloudজোরে পড়ুন
A short text (30-60 words) appears on screen. After a short prep time, read it aloud clearly and naturally.
Repeat Sentenceবাক্য পুনরাবৃত্তি
Hear a sentence once (3-9 seconds), then repeat it word-for-word immediately after the beep.
Describe Imageছবি বর্ণনা
An image (chart, graph, map, or picture) appears. Prepare for 25 seconds, then describe it for 40 seconds.
Retell Lectureলেকচার পুনর্বর্ণনা
Watch/listen to a short academic lecture (up to 90 sec), then retell its key points in your own words in 40 seconds.
Answer Short Questionসংক্ষিপ্ত উত্তর
Hear a simple question (e.g. "What do we call a doctor who treats teeth?"). Answer with one word or a short phrase.
Summarize Group Discussionগ্রুপ আলোচনার সারসংক্ষেপ
Listen to several speakers discussing a topic, then give a spoken summary of the discussion and the different viewpoints raised.
Respond to a Situationপরিস্থিতির জবাব
Read or hear a everyday/workplace situation (e.g. asking a colleague for help), then speak an appropriate response.

Read a ~300-word academic passage and write a single sentence (5-75 words) summarising it.

একটিমাত্র বাক্যে মূল ধারণা, কারণ ও একটি চ্যালেঞ্জ — সবকিছু coordinating/subordinating clause দিয়ে জোড়া লাগানো।
How Scoring Works (স্কোরিং কীভাবে কাজ করে)
PTE Academic reports an overall score (10-90) plus four communicative skills (Speaking, Writing, Reading, Listening) and several enabling skills. Because this section is "integrated", many items feed more than one communicative skill — a strong Read Aloud helps both your Speaking and Reading scores.

Enabling Skills the Engine Listens/Reads For

Pearson does not publish its exact algorithm weightings — this table is a simplified guide to what each skill covers. Pearson সঠিক ওয়েটিং প্রকাশ করে না — এটি একটি সরলীকৃত গাইড।
Speak to the microphone, not the room: the scoring engine needs clean audio. Speak at a steady volume, avoid trailing off at the end of sentences, and never stay silent for more than 3 seconds once recording starts — a long silence can end the recording early.

- Start speaking within 3 seconds of the beep. বিপের ৩ সেকেন্ডের মধ্যে বলা শুরু করুন।
- Use every second of prep time to plan, not panic. প্রস্তুতির সময় পরিকল্পনায় ব্যবহার করুন।
- Watch the live word counter on writing tasks. রাইটিং-এ ওয়ার্ড কাউন্টার দেখুন।
- Keep a steady, natural pace when speaking. স্থির, স্বাভাবিক গতিতে বলুন।
- Attempt every item, even if unsure. অনিশ্চিত হলেও প্রতিটি আইটেম চেষ্টা করুন।
Don'ts (বর্জনীয়)
- Don't stay silent for more than 3 seconds. ৩ সেকেন্ডের বেশি চুপ থাকবেন না।
- Don't cover the microphone or turn away from it. মাইক্রোফোন থেকে মুখ ঘুরাবেন না।
- Don't write essays under 120 or over ~380 words. ১২০-এর কম বা ~৩৮০-এর বেশি শব্দ লিখবেন না।
- Don't split Summarize Written Text into two sentences. একাধিক বাক্যে ভাঙবেন না।
- Don't panic on one bad item — the next one is independent. একটি খারাপ গেলে দুশ্চিন্তা করবেন না।
Your Preparation Path (প্রস্তুতির পথ)
A practical 6-week plan focused on the mechanics unique to a computer-scored speaking test.

Phase 1: Learn the Machine
Goal: Get comfortable speaking into a microphone on a strict timer. টাইমারে মাইক্রোফোনে কথা বলায় স্বাচ্ছন্দ্য অর্জন।
Do: Record yourself doing Read Aloud and Repeat Sentence daily; play it back and check pace, pauses and clarity. প্রতিদিন নিজেকে রেকর্ড করে শুনুন।
Phase 2: Build Templates
Goal: Have a reusable structure for Describe Image, essays and summaries. পুনর্ব্যবহারযোগ্য কাঠামো তৈরি।
Do: Practise 3 image types (chart/map/process) and write 5 essays and 10 one-sentence summaries. ৫টি প্রবন্ধ ও ১০টি সারসংক্ষেপ লিখুন।
Phase 3: Full-Section Runs
Goal: Simulate the full 76-84 minute section without stopping. পুরো অংশের পূর্ণ সিমুলেশন।
Do: Do 2-3 complete timed runs; keep an error log for grammar, pronunciation and time-management slips. সময়বদ্ধ সম্পূর্ণ রান দিন; error log রাখুন।
Daily micro-habit: read one short news paragraph aloud every day, timing yourself, to train the exact rhythm Read Aloud rewards.
